I’m a Super-Fan of this Book…

When I find something I love, I tend to go all in. I read about it, subscribe to the website, join relevant Facebook groups, sign up for workshops or webinars—and yes, I’m compelled to tell my friends and followers about it. In other words, I become a super fan!

That’s what happened when I read the latest memoir, Untamed, by Glennon Doyle. I was skeptical of the hype but found it totally justified. Doyle is the author or two other best-sellers, Carry On Warrior and Love Warrior but if you’re going to go with one, make it Untamed.

Glennon shares her personal story of love and loss, betrayal and redemption, with such clarity and authenticity, such raw honesty and brave intimacy, it’s hard not to get drawn in. The chapters are short and filled with equal parts real-life anecdotes and profound truths.

I resonate with so much of Glennon’s life philosophy that I struggle to quote only one passage (my book is ridiculously marked up!), but this will give you a flavor:

“Every time you pretend to be less that you are, you steal permission from other women to exist fully. Don’t mistake modesty for humility. Modesty is a giggly lie. An act. A mask. A fake game. We have no time for it. The word humility derives from the Latin word humilitas, which means ‘of the earth’. To be humble is to be grounded in knowing who you are. It implies the responsibility to become what you were meant to become—to grow, to reach, to fully bloom as high and strong and grand as you were created to.”

YOUR TURN: How well do you know yourself? How tall are you standing in your truth, your knowing, your authenticity?
